Getting the Layout Right

You know a kitchen was constructed correctly, when the functionality of the kitchen, matches its aesthetics. Most standard residential kitchens should have what we call a "Work Triangle." A standard Work Triangle in a kitchen comprises of Cooktop, Fridge, and Sink being placed in such a way where if you drew line in between each of those 3 items in the kitchen, that line would form a triangle. A suitable Work Triangle is advantageous to any kitchen, allowing for proper flow, spacing, and functionality while cooking in the kitchen. A poorly designed work triangle can have cabinets prohibiting fridge/stove doors from opening. Or a cluttered kitchen with not enough room to work and move freely. With this being said, a proper design is absolutely crucial. Especially if cabinets, appliances, and other kitchen items are going to be moved around and or switched from the kitchen's current layout.

What Else to Focus On

Cabinetry, storage, appliances, and lighting are the most common upgrades that are requested from us. We also get a ton of inquires about what kind of cabinets to install. And the answer to that question all depends on your budget. A set of 12 - 18 cabinets could cost anywhere from $6,000 - $40,000. The drastic cost difference is caused by the material used, cabinet features, and if the cabinets are custom built or not. Lets start off with the high end cabinets. They are made out of solid wood and built to last 100 years, if maintained properly. On the other end of the spectrum, there is MDF board cabinets, which is short for Medium-Density Fiberboard. It's an engineered wood constructed from wood sheets, that get heated, glued, and pressed together. Over the years, MDF cabinets have improved, making them very sturdy and durable. Although they are not as durable as solid wood cabinets, they are a close second. MDF cabinets function the exact same as Solid Wood, and most homeowners can't tell the difference between the two, one cabinets are installed. But the kicker, is the price. MDF Cabinets can sometimes be 50% - 75% cheaper than Solid Wood. Making them a very good option when looking for affordable cabinets. Couple that along with the fact that they're normally readily available, you'll find people have no problem going with them for their choice of cabinets for their new kitchen. The main drawback is that they mainly come in, white, grey, or dark brown color. While solid wood, custom cabinets are painted any color of your choice.

Memories are Made in The Kitchen

If you plan on ripping out your entire kitchen to put together an entirely new one. These are some key aspects you want to coordinate and get absolutely right. Flooring color, backsplash, wall paint color, cabinet color, and lighting. If these things are coordinated correctly, a low budget kitchen upgrade can be the highlight room in a house. If done incorrectly, even the highest budgeted kitchens can end up being the home's eyesore.

So whenever you're planning on upgrading your kitchen, whether a little at a time, or all at once. Getting these colors to tie into each other makes all the difference, for an aesthetically pleasing kitchen. No matter the budget. Add in some great storage space, some incredible functionality, and we'll bring your dream kitchen to life.
